Sony HDR-CX110 Review

Tuesday, May 24, 2011
So in my opinion, for some gadgets you need to spend a good few months before writing a review.

There is absolutely no point in all those YouTube videos that you watch where they just unbox a camera, phone etc - and then review it. A proper review requires spending a fair amount of time and thinking about all the Pro's and Cons thoroughly through. It is definitely not like a movie, where you can watch it through once and then review it.

So, I've had my Sony HDR-CX110 FULL HD Handycam for no less than four months now.

All MY own videos you see around the blog was filmed with this little camera.

My Thoughts
Considering its currently the most affordable FULL HD video camera on the market, I was really impressed with what it delivers in terms of quality. It might not really compare well to Professional Camcorders or High End DSLR camera's, but for the average hobbyist or family user it should be perfect!

  • It is small, light and compact! Fits into your pocket.
  • Supports Flash Memory u to 32GB
  • "Exmor R" CMOS sensor for low light conditions
  • 25x Optical Zoom
  • HDMI Playback (Cable sold Separately)
  • iAuto Color Correcting

    • No built in Memory
    • Slow focusing at times
    • Footage gets noisy when shooting at night
    • Mac OS Not Supported
    • Stabilizer not always very effective
    • Manual Lens Opener

Another thing you have to keep in mind, it that this camera only shoots at 1080i (interlaced) and not 1080p (progressive) like the more expensive cameras. There is a slight decrease in quality between 1080i and 1080p.

Here is a sample video, uploaded in 720p.
